Christmas in July!!

Morning peeps - wow am I one very excited person this morning!! No, not because it is my sons sports day today... although I do love a good spud & spoon race. I'm thrilled to say that I have been invited to be guest designer for July over at Stampin' for the Weekend and today is my first spot on the team !!! Quick happy dance sat on my swivel chair!! I couldn't quite believe it when Jan & Sandie asked me if I'd like to join in, took me a few minutes for it to sink in - thank you so much ladies!!

Anyway, let's get to the details, this fortnights challenge is a sketch along with the theme Christmas in July:

This was quite a challenge for me because I have to confess that I don't actually make that many Christmas cards - guilty expression - and when I do make them it has to be at least Dec 20th. It was very strange working on a Christmas card wearing summer togs on one of the hottest days of the year with the fan whirring in the background. Here's my card :

I used Messy Ho Ho Ho stamp from Joanna Sheen coloured with promarkers and gold gel pen.
The trimming on his clothes is white liquid pearls sprinkled with glamour dust - it wouldn't be a proper Christmas card without a bit of glitter would it!!

I think the red background paper is by Karen Foster but I'm not 100% sure as I've cut the label strip off! I used wired red & gold ribbon instead of more paper with green wording ribbon laid over the top (both from Hobbycraft) . The flower and holly leaves are from my stash.

I didn't have a suitable embellishment for the corner so I made a little parcel from a square of glitter card wrapped with ribbon and finished with a bow. Thanks for looking and don't forget to check out the challenge over at Stampin' for the Weekend!

I'm off to pack the picnic for sports day! Enjoy your day!!
